Every Saturday I share 1 actionable idea to help you level up your life and business.

Today we talk about a skill most entrepreneurs underestimate.

It is not your IQ.

It is your EQ.

Your Emotional Intelligence.

And I have seen brilliant founders lose deals because they ignored it.

I. The Myth of Intelligence in Business

Many entrepreneurs believe success comes from being the smartest person in the room.

They focus on knowledge, strategy, and analysis.

And yes. Those things matter.

But here is the truth most people learn the hard way.

Business is about people.

And people run on emotions.

Not logic.

I have met entrepreneurs with amazing ideas, strong skills, and powerful work ethic.

Still they struggled to close deals.

Still they struggled to build trust.

Still they struggled to create real connection with clients.

And when I looked closer, the missing piece was always the same.

Emotional Intelligence.

II. When IQ Is Not Enough

Let me share something personal.

Over the years I had many situations where my EQ mattered far more than my IQ.

Especially in sales conversations and client onboarding.

In theory, closing a deal sounds simple.

You present your offer.

You explain the benefits.

You show the value.

But real conversations do not work like that.

People bring fears, expectations, and past experiences into every interaction.

And if you cannot read those signals, you lose the deal.

I remember a call with a potential client who was extremely analytical.

Every sentence was a question.

Every claim needed proof.

At first I pushed too hard.

I spoke about results.

I spoke about strategy.

But something felt off.

Then I slowed down.

I listened.

I adapted my tone.

I switched from excitement to calm clarity.

Suddenly the conversation changed.

The client relaxed.

The questions became easier.

And we closed the deal.

Nothing in the offer changed.

What changed was the emotional alignment.

III. Reading the Room

High performers learn something early.

Every conversation has an emotional rhythm.

And if you want to influence people, you must first understand that rhythm.

When I enter a new meeting, I rarely jump straight into business.

Instead I take a few minutes to observe.

How fast does the other person speak.

Do they talk with energy or calm.

Are they direct or reflective.

Do they want details or big ideas.

These small signals matter.

They tell you how to communicate.

Because great communication is not about what you say.

It is about how well the other person can receive it.

That is where Emotional Intelligence becomes your hidden superpower.

IV. The First Five Minutes Rule

Here is a simple rule I learned through experience.

The first five minutes of a conversation are critical.

This is the moment where you feel the energy of the other person.

And this is the moment where you adjust your communication style.

If someone is fast and energetic.

Match their energy.

If someone is calm and thoughtful.

Slow down.

If someone loves details.

Give structure.

If someone loves vision.

Talk about future possibilities.

When both sides operate on the same frequency, trust grows naturally.

And trust is the real currency in business.

V. Why Smart Entrepreneurs Still Lose

Let me tell you why some highly intelligent founders struggle.

They rely too much on logic.

They believe facts convince people.

But humans rarely make decisions based on facts alone.

People decide with emotion.

Then they justify with logic.

That means your ability to understand emotions directly influences your business results.

You might have the better product.

You might have the smarter strategy.

You might even have the stronger numbers.

But if the other person does not feel understood, the deal disappears.

And someone with stronger Emotional Intelligence wins instead.

VI. Emotional Intelligence Creates Real Influence

The best entrepreneurs I know share one trait.

They master the art of human connection.

They listen carefully.

They read subtle signals.

They adjust their communication.

And they make people feel seen, heard, and valued.

When people feel that level of respect, something powerful happens.

Trust increases.

Collaboration becomes easier.

Opportunities multiply.

This is the true advantage of Emotional Intelligence.

It turns conversations into relationships.

And relationships build long term success.

VII. One Simple EQ Habit You Can Start Today

You can improve your Emotional Intelligence faster than you think.

Start with one simple habit.

Ask more questions.

And truly listen to the answers.

Not to reply.

But to understand.

Pay attention to tone.

Notice pauses.

Observe how people react to certain topics.

Every conversation becomes a learning opportunity.

The more you practice this awareness, the better you become at navigating business relationships.

And once you develop that skill, your influence grows naturally.
